Despite the viewpoint this is a particularly drab monochrome original picture taken many years ago during my first independent holiday. In an attempt to counter the boring effect I first used the brightness/contrast sliders to separate the tones then reinforced this with a little judicious sharpening and a touch of posterizing (I didn't want to draw attention to the posterization process as this had been projected in the previous recent upload "Three"). The key changes came from using Dye Concentration with original luminescence selected, before I tried to insert a little colour by use of a the Color overlay feature. All this is wildly experimental and doesn't begin to exhaust the possibilities, but I do like the strange moodiness which results. It is a mixture of overwhelming oppression as intended when the castle was built, and of a strange fairy-tale feeling. I doubt if I could exactly replicate the result. Finally, I guess the Rendo admin folk may decide this is a photo-manipulation too far and move it elsewhere - the "method versus end" conundrum again. Cliff
