Description

I recently read a book in which the Hindu goddess, Maya, was a recurring character (a figment of the protagonist's imagination, but an interesting metaphor). In actual Hindu iconography, Maya is not portrayed as a figure at all, but the character in the book intrigued me so I did this. Maya is the goddess of all material illusion and delusion. I didn't give her multiple arms or anything as there's no traditional representation of her. I wanted her to be alluringly beautiful, and the image busy, confusing, compelling, and distracting, just as the material world tends to be. Of course, Maya has another face, but it's pretty horrible... Just think about the state of the world and you'll work out what that one is like... The figure is The Girl 4, which I very much enjoyed playing with. The rest is painted.
