Where do I begin , to tell the story, Where do I start?
Its gone.
My birdy, she was attacked by a snake. She was just three days young.Hearing the alarming sound of its parents, it was my Dad who spotted the snake. He shouted and called me. It took a moment for me to come to the reality. When I looked, snakes head had already disappered into the nest. It was pinning down its prey. I lost all my hope. I could feel blood draining from my face. Next what I saw is, it raised the head and was about to swallow the chick. It was not dead yet. I could see it gasping for air from half way its mouth. What shall I do? Run for my camera and take a gorgeous shot. I must be coward to do that. I beat it with my bare hand. But the thick bush was protecting it. After three or four times of beating it jumbed from the bush with the chick in its mouth. But on the way it spit it out and vanished. Oh, the poor little chick, she was breathing her last. Somehow I managed to put it back into the nest. All this time both the parents were waching this horrific seen.
Out of two eggs only one hatched. But for what? I have told here about a predator bird I killed to protect this family.Because for two three years that bird was either distroying or kiling many nests and chicks in our yard. Strangley, this predator bird also preys on snakes. Now see, when I kept my yard free of that predator, predator's prey turned to be predator. This is some thing we have to learn from nature.
For what did the snake come? To eat the chick.But it couldn't eat. Why did I killed that bird? To save this chick. But it didn't survive.
As I was taking this shot.I could hear the sarcastic sound of that big bird from the distance. I felt like a defeated soldier.Was that just an another bird or was that the one I killed?

Superb shot. But its always so sad to see a baby bird not make it. It looks like it may have fallen out of the nest. It hurts, but you've got to move on. Its a circle of life as they call it. Sometimes you make it some times you don't.

your effort to save the bird really moved me. I fould a baby bird today that had I guess fallen from its nest or my cat got it not sure which, but sad to see. huggss

My heart is so heavy - for the chick, for the parent-birds and for you. Too late, we often learn that what we do as humans to help nature is often no help at all. You did what you did with a pure heart and that is what hurts most... your best was not what was best for natural balance. In this world there are two sides to everything...one side is for the preditor and the other is for the prey, and they often change places along the way. Fate often changes course and Karma often is too eager to appear. I learned my lesson with thinking nature needed my assistance much as you have, and I have learned to manage the heartache of watching it conduct its own business - it may still hurt, but the pain is less knowing it is as it must be. Feel good that you did all you could and that you are wiser now than most of the world in these matters. :-)
