Description

I got up all early in the morning to check out the chicks at the osprey nest Monday, and after well over an hour of standing there, all I got was a wing hump beginning to protrude above the nest rim (Mom was sitting there the whole time, not moving much and certainly not feeding or anything). It was frustrating, as the last visit was about 10 days previous, and I didn't know how much growth would have occurred, but knew it would be significant.. I had an errand to run in that direction later in the day anyway, so I stopped back by, hoping for more action and that the backlighting wouldn't make shooting too difficult. Just as I got there, Mom surprisingly left the nest alone and took off. I was hoping she went fishing, which would mean the possibility of some cool stuff.. Well, it was hot enough that soon the chicks got fidgety & active for me. I got a few cool shots of which this was probably the most endearing. Mom returned shortly, but without fish, to my chagrin. The landing pic will be posted next, as that turned out great, too..

Thanks for the comments.. Hmm.. One of my co-workers said she thought they looked evil.. I just can't see it. It looks goofy to me. Maybe it's proximity? Maybe it's just not easy to see their demeanor in still images? Trust me, they're cute & silly through & through..
