Description

Origine du nom de la station Vendôme L’avenue de Vendôme fut ainsi nommée peu après l’annexion par la Ville de Montréal, en 1910, de la ville de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. Le manque de renseignements précis quant à l’origine de ce toponyme nous oblige à n’émettre que des hypothèses. En France, Vendôme désigne une place de Paris bien connue et une sous-préfecture du département de Loir-et-Cher. Ce dernier lieu fut la patrie de la maison de Condé, une branche de la maison de Bourbon. Plusieurs ducs de Vendôme jouèrent un rôle important dans l’histoire de la France. La présence de la particule nous amène à penser que l’avenue de Vendôme rappelle l’un ou l’ensemble des ducs de Vendôme, plutôt que la place ou la municipalité.

Well, I disagree. Two images fairly composed but with evident technical flaws: colors, exposure, focus and light are poorly handled. And the "still life" category is wrong. To try again in my opinion.

Origin of the name of the station Vendôme The avenue of Vendôme was so named shortly after annexation by the City of Montreal, in 1910, of the city of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. The lack of definite information as for the origin of this toponym makes us issue only hypotheses. In France, Vendôme indicates a well-known place of Paris and a French administrative subdivision of the department of Loir-et-Cher. This last place was the fatherland of cop's home, a branch of the home of Bourbon. Several dukes of Vendôme played an important role in the history of France. The presence of the particle leads us to think that the avenue of Vendôme reminds of the one or all the dukes of Vendôme, rather than of the place or of the municipality. EXCELLENT montage !!!
