Description

#2 of my flies. This time a Blowfly (Green Bottle Fly). "The name blow-fly comes from an older English term for meat that had eggs laid on it, which was said to be fly blown. The first known association of the term “blow” with flies appears in the plays of William Shakespeare: Love's Labour's Lost, The Tempest, and Antony and Cleopatra. " [From Wikipedia] Being in a cast, I am limited as to what I can shoot. Flies are easy prey! This one is on my bait of some old shrimp I threw on a bush. Thanks for looking. WOW! I really want to take pictures like this. I'm an insect lover (mostly social insects) and all around bug freak in general, and I have to say that this is an amazingly detailed, incredibly crisp shot. Flies don't pose for me, but then I am not often in the habit of feeding them shrimp either. Oh well... Fantastic details: great sense of color, superb clarity. And like Meisiekind, I'd love to acquire a lens like yours. This is, most definitely, a favorite.

Great shot, he is a beauty, I love the colours. But I hate flies, you never know what they've been on before they visit you YUK! he does look cute in macro though.
