If it was just a mid-life crisis Why did it feel like the end? Sure my body might have had the capacity to live For another 30 or 40 years But I needed a reason for all my pain When I succumbed to my darkest fears The dreams I had are now a joke Failure now has replaced all hope If I knew it all would suck like this I wouldn't have bothered to make a wish Unfulfilled desire... the root of unhappiness For if I was content than all would have been right How could I change the things that I wanted Without giving up the fight? Some have said they are happier now After giving up on their dreams Any time I have ever tried this All I heard was screams The voices shouted, "DONT GIVE UP!" "IT'S REALLY NOT THAT BAD!" "DON"T YOU KNOW IT COULD BE WORSE!" "THAT SHOULD MAKE YOU GLAD!" I couldn't take comfort in other people's sorrow I wasn't built that way To hear of other's suffering Was even less of a reason to stay I lived in a world that was so full of sh*t Where some people would kill just as easy as taking a piss They would lie and steal and f**k you over So good luck my friend with that four-leaf clover! We did things to each other that made us sick We'd call them glorious and honorable That was the trick We said to ourselves that we didn't care Passed it off as "Life ain't fair" "Give me liberty or give me death" Was one of my all time favorite quotes We built fortresses out of our ignorance And drowned good men in moats How is anyone but the mightiest free When forced to do their bidding There was a time I thought that I could be Now you must be kidding Was I brainwashed or just stupid? Everything I did was to fatten the sacred cows Was I one of them, did I take the vows? To f**k over everyone and everything This was our rally cry Even ourselves who held the other 98% down All were left to die Is this the species that I was from? Murderous motherf***ers who think they own the ground? And the seas, the sky, even the stars and all the moons Our very souls are up for grabs... You don't know how lucky you are!
