Description

After a hiatus of 18 months (almost to the day), I’ve finally found the time to make another image! No real reason for a break though I did buy my first home and got a bit sidetracked fixing it up and also just needed to find some inspiration too. Speaking of which, I found the inspiration for this image in an unlikely place – a meeting at work! It was a very boring meeting and this idea just popped into my head. What you see here is pretty much how I envisioned it,. It’s very rare for me to make a picture with a pre-conceived idea and I’m pleased it came out as I expected so I might try it again one day. All I did was replicate a single cube to create a ‘field’ of about 400 cubes. Then I created a terrain and shaped it in such as way as to ensure it sloped downwards to create a bowl-like structure. Positioning the cube field above the terrain, I just used the drop function to drop them down to create the appearance of order (the cube field) coming from chaos (the natural world of the terrain). Paint on a few trees and shrubs (from the excellent Realms Art Forest Plants Pack), some rocks and grass and there you go! I spent some getting the lighting right on this. I like how the scene gets brighter the further away it is. Despite having been away from Vue (and Bryce) for some time, whenever I checked out the galleries I would always yearn to create another picture – it gets in your blood I think, that desire to create your own world or special place in which to escape to. You may like to view this full-size. Created in Vue 6i with no postwork. I always appreciate any comments you may care to leave!
