Description

I hadn't realized it's been so long since I posted anything. I just hadn't had much heart for doing any artwork since I found out a dear friend of mine comimtted suicide back at the end of April. She lost her husband Bob back in January of 2008 to bone cancer (I dedicated my "Medicine Wheel" to Bob) and she had been so lost and lonely since; just heartbreaking. Now I know why I had to have two horses in that image. Riki and Bob are now together again, and while I miss them both dearly, I will treasure their wonderful spirits forever. So in trying to re-engage my muse I went browsing through some older unfinished work and found this piece I started about a year ago. He was almost done but I hadn't been totally happy with him. I dusted him off and the pieces just sorta fell together the way I had envisioned. Felt good to be doing some art again. Anyway I hope you enjoy him! And now the legal blah, blah, blah... Beautiful - really, a horse portrait - and a great one! I love the posing, and lighting (especially the backlighting effect.) I assume you painted the mane - wonderful job there! You remind me a great deal of a rendo friend of mine, Sylki, who also loves horses. Very, very nice job!

A stunning portrait with sunlight and sadness. This is, to me, a perfect image to show the two sides of life. I'm so sorry about your friend, and I understand all too well her loneliness, and her need to be with her beloved. I have experienced sadness that has reached deep into my soul, so deep I have not wanted to go on, and yet the wonder of nature, of special friendships, of family, of art, of doxie kisses, of the unexpected smile, and the welcome laughter, keeps me going and believing in the beauty of life. I'm glad you are feeling inspired to create again, Laurie, as it is a precious gift you give to others, and to yourself. Hugs my dear and special friend. :o) CC

We contemplate what and if, but after the soulsearching we come back and make a difference. We dust off that which was there all along, we see a sign and know someone is there watching, proding us on. Without this, without you all I would be lost, now I help others who are in the same place I once was. We as in the the piece look inside and must sometimes take time to reflect and gather our strength again. The cycle of life, we are all human and grow tired and, sleep some we must, those that remain regain their strength and make life reborn as a tribute to those that are gone. We become a light to those that are searching and not sure.

Stunning work. I can understand your inability to create.. such a painful loss can completely stifle the will to do anything. It's good to see you back though.. I had missed your beautiful postings. {{{hugs}}}

beautiful image, beautiful horsey! Very, very sorry about your loss, so sad... (this really touches me) I agree with stramp... (we become lights ;-)) When I became widowed (after 27 years of lives-sharing), I learned that love IS 'stronger than death'. There is no separation, we are a(l)l-one! (what actually happened was that I started dreaming about horsies again ;-) as Linda Kohanov describes: 'too complex to voice, yet too important to ignore' ;-D http://www.taoofequus.com/news_archives/archive_05_05.html ) Wishing you lots of strenght!!! 'do not dwell upon my death, but celebrate my life!'

Beautiful in all aspects, the lighting is superb as is the composition. I am so sorry to hear about your friends sadness and her passing. Sometimes I think that two such people are one soul and one is incomplete without the other.
