I came from a traditional art background (pencil sketching, watercolors and acrylics mostly - with some airbrush work) and then stumbled onto the 3D world by accident learning to code flash game actionscripts. Someone in a forum mentioned Blender...checked it out and I was like wow, a free app that can do that? Found Daz Studio about a year later, then moved on to Hexagon. My major influences would be the Romantics and Pre-Raphaelites, even though I don't consider myself of either school. But for specific modern artists: Chris Achilleos, Frazetta, Kinuko Craft, Kadri Umbleja (aka Iardacil), Diane Özdamar, Frank Miller, Todd McFarlane, Range Murata, Hayao Miyazaki.....to name a few. Lately I have started delving into Daz Studio 3. I know I am way behind the times, but I was trying to eek out everything I could learn from DS2 and finally think I have done as much as I can do in that version.
Happy Rendering!

A day and a half render time? Such is why I've sworn off environment lights and their absurd render times. lol, if it ain't done in 2 hours it gets cancelled. The work that went into this is obvious and it looks very good. The only things that would have possible made it better would be some slight dof and perhaps some postworked fog to separate the ground from the sky.

shotgung0d, thanks for the idea on the fog that is a good idea. For DOF I am not looking for realism, but illustration so I think the DOF would not fit the style. There were no enviroment lights used at all. There were 6 default Daz Studio distant lights all running raytacing, 1 spotlight and 1 distant light set to specular. I believe the long render time was due to all the trans-mapping and the raytacing. From what I hear every light in a scene that runs raytraced shadows doubles the render times...or close to it. Thanks for your input it is much appreciated. =)

Wonderful and very creative realization.....!!!!

Xcellent composition!

Fantastic piece, definitely a favorite. The raytracing does indeed lengthen the rendering time considerably-that is an issue of mine as well. The longest running render I went through was close to 40 hours...with six lights...and LOADS of transmaps. SO know your pain. :) Lovely work!
