Description
I was on holidays driving through the Blue Mountains near Grafton in NSW. When we took a break for coffee I spotted that different types of moss etc were growing on the gum trees there.
If anyone knows the name for these please let me know.

Hi There, These are not mosses, but lichens. Nice pic!

I believe they are parasitic like mistletoe and spanish moss. Cool capture...

Usnea lichen and a great capture of it. What is wrapped around a log is Foliose lichen.

I really like this image. Of course I also like things that grow on trees...though more honestly, I like the things that eat the things that grow on trees...but that's a long and complicated tale of being a science nerd as a kid. This is a gorgeous capture, a fantastic glimpse into a world far more complex than anything we're accustomed to "seeing." This is a fantastic work of art. Great.
