Hi All,
My name is Tracey and I live in Oxfordshire, England. I've been a keen photographer since I was able to prize my Dad's camera off him as a child, which wasn't easy IÂ can tell you, and the photos were rather blurred. If my memory serves me correctly he soon took it back! LOL
I've just invested in a digital SLR (heaven!) I had a compact digital camera but I always loved the memory of my old 35mm SLR. I'm having such fun with it, I hope you enjoy the photos I post from my learning curve!

It looks like a juvenile male and an adult male. The adult has the larger white on the beak and the juvenile still has the more prominent bumps on his. It is at this age that the adult males will try to drive out the juveniles. Often they will battle to the death but usually the younger one will leave to find their own territory. Probably there were females in the area. Even female pigeons will do this same battle to protect their position in the community. I would have needed to watch this play out over more time to be sure of all this but that is the way it appears from the photos. I raised pigeons for nearly 12 years and learned a lot about their behaviors - but even at that, telling male from female is difficult unless you catch them drinking. The sexes drink very differently. Females tend to be dainty and only dip the tips of their beaks while males will just dive in and often be messy about it. :-) Oh, and these are wonderful shots! :-)

yes I think you're right, the smaller one was picking the fight, the bigger one did have a go back but was trying to get away from the smaller one who kept following him. The smaller one did look quite bedragled and if you look at the bottom right pic he seems to be a bit bold on the chest, because he's juvenile or from fighting I don't know. I must admit I did shoo them away because I didn't want a full on fight to the death at the bird bath!
