Description
I was in the middle of doing a different image when I heard about Dawn's ("1010") tragic loss of her daughter. I put my project aside and did this quick image instead. It's no great art, but just to let Dawn know that she and her family are in our thoughts at this time - perhaps the image can convey something of how I feel, as I can't find the words.
I did consider taking comments off, but have left them on for others to add thoughts and messages for Dawn.
Be strong, Dawn, and I hope that your many friends here will be some comfort to you. Phil

So true, one can not find the right words for such a loss. You were right in leaving comments open. People need to express themselves in this sort of situation. When our child gets a cut, we put a band aid on it, which in turn makes the child feel better...but does not take the cut away...in this situation we are at a loss for words but just a simple gesture like a comment can show our support, be her band aid in a way...the band aid shows we are here for her, though we can't make the hurt go away. Hopefully these comments help Dawn feel better, she will have a scar forever...unlike that small cut which eventually fades away.

Wonderful job Phil. Sometimes words can fail us, but as artists we can SHOW how we feel - as you have done here. What a great image and dedication for such a wonderful (and brave) lady who has gone through so much. Dawn, I'm a father and grandfather. I personally have been spared the tragedy, but I have friends who have gone through the same thing as you. It is just not right in the natural order of things for a parent to outlive their children - but it just happens sometimes. For me, I've seen it too many times for it not to be true: God has a plan for all of us, though we may not understand it at the time. For some reason He wanted her to be with Him - and you have to know He is taking really good care of her...

There is nothing I can say to you, to take your pain away, and nothing I can do for you, to help your heart renew. To say good bye is hard sometimes, to those about to leave, but to say it to your child gives new meaning to how we grieve. We want them back so desperately, and be there at our side, but now they're in a better place, it's heaven they abide. I'm so sorry Dawn!! I had two brothers pass away about five years ago, they were also a couple of my best friends. I will pray for you and your family, for strength, and gratitude that your daughter is now in a better place, and light a candle for her now. God be with you! Please take good care!
