Description

I sometimes wonder why so many people find the giraffe such an appealing creature. Here is a view captured at sunset during my many strolls in the bush not wanting to miss a thing in Africa before the darkness sets in. A time which goes totally lost to the camera and in most cases the eye. Night time is a time for sounds and smells and sadly is lost to share.

This dedicated to all you giraffe fans.

This is absolutely stunning! Living in a place that has very few colorful sunsets, this seems extravagantly beautiful and exotic to me. And the giraffe! I know that seems ordinary to you ... but to those of us who live in other climes, it's enchanting. Spectacular photograph!

Omg, piet, I think this is the most beautiful photo I have ever seen. It takes my breath away ... I know you don't take a thing for granted, and you appreciate the simple things in life, but this ... sweetie, is a priviledge .. and honor, to be amongst the animals that you have there in Africa. I hope to some day visit there ...

As a firm giraffe fan, let me be the first to thank you for the dedi Piet! They are wonderful creatures and there is just something so graceful about them! Capturing this one against the setting sun with just enough light left to make out his features, is magnificent. What a wonderful job you did my friend! Bravo! :)

Gorgeous capture. I think, the giraffe has a face that everyone enjoys looking at. It seems gentle and serene. So tall and gangly and yet elegant. That is the only appeal I can think of. You certainly made them more appealing in this work. :o)

OMG This is just a fantastic photo! I love giraffes too. Had one lick my hand a few years back. What a cool experience that was!

Oh, lovely, Piet.. As for giraffes: they have big eyes, long tongues, and don't bite. I'm actually looking for a man like that, LOL. I saw a video of two males fighting dong the neck banging thing. Was shocked at the violence of it, but on the whole they seem calm and are just so unusual looking.

A fantastic photo Piet. Mere words fall short. And I've just viewed Tara's (auntietk's) painting inspired by one of your giraffe photos...both have done a great job. See what you start with a photograph like this?!

Spectacular sunset. As others have said, the giraffe completes the image as "Africa."

They are so tall I bet they experience sundown 15 minutes after we do! LOL this is a stellar mood shot and the composition is simply all a great photographer like yourself could ask for. Really outstanding (and I don't even consider myself a giraffe fan!)
