Description

Been at the local wetlands again the last 2 days. A lot of activity insect-wise. Thought the bright yellow on these guys was so cool and another wasp with alien eyes! Small in size, about 7-10mm I generally hesitate to make multiple posts of the same insects, so I included 2 of this guy in one post... INFO: Genus Philanthus - Beewolves-Wasp Adults feed on nectar, but larvae feed on bees provided by mother at time of egg-laying. Many species prey especially on sweat bees (family Halictidae), but at least one European species favors honeybees. -BugGuide.net Thanks for looking and all your kind comments of late. -Bruce PS, Full Size gets you up close and personal! ;-)
