Out came the sun this afternnon in bewteeen the showers and so did the bees, by the bucket full in fact! So I had a go with my Canon standard 50mm f/1.4 lens and a 31mm extnsion tube. The tricky bit was getting the critters to keep in one place long enough for me to frame and then focus the shot! Out of the many photos taken this was one of the better ones, but not a brilliant macro shot I grant you. Balancing shutter and aperature settings for the hand-held shot was tricky hence a shallow dof with only f/10. I'm was unsure of the magnification acheived, but the bee's body is c.130mm as measured on screen in PS. I also did a test shot and 5mm section of rule measured 54mm on screen (in PS).
