Description

These 'old growth trees' on Coldwater Ridge, five miles away from Mount St. Helens were snapped like matchsticks by the explosive force of the eruption on 18 May 1980. This picture was taken on 20 May 2009. Thanks for viewing, commenting and favs, Sig... I will comment shortly.

I always say, Mother Nature is very strong. Don't mess with her. Great shot Sig. Aloha

Says it all doesn't it? I like the way the park has build all of its buildings to look like bomb shelters in the vicinity of the main park hall.

The view from the plane showed it best, the trees laying out pointing away from the blast site! It reminded one person of the blast at Hiroshima and Nagasaki as well as the Russian blast. Kiinda makes the hurricanes and tornados look puny when you compare them all.

This photo truly shows why Mount St. Helens was one of the few world events that qualifies for the description, cataclysmic.

Looks like Mother Nature has taken care of some of the downed trees since my last visit about 15 years ago. Still these snapped are testament to the volcano's power!

I was there in 2003 and was struck by how much devastation remained from the eruption.
