I'm a 50-something Scotsman living in Glasgow, and I've been into CG art since 2005, and I like to think I'm not that bad at producing stuff that people like. I just hope I'm not deluding myself (^_^) My tastes run from glamour and fantasy, anime and manga, through to retro SF images and fake magazine and book covers.
I used Poser when I first started, but now I use DAZ Studio (latest version) for setting up and posing figures, and Bryce for the final renders. My own props and sets are created in TS4, which is a bit clunky, but it lets me build some interesting stuff. PhotoShop and Gimp are where it all comes together. I use only DAZ people in my artwork, as I find the Poser people a bit lacking in the looks and versatility department. I used to draw a lot, but discovering 3D has allowed me to create the kind of images I could never achieve with 'normal' media.
Thanks for all the positive and helpful comments that I have received. It's nice to get feedback from fellow artists. Makes posting the images seem worthwhile. At one time I was producing a CGI comic for a British comic-magazine called "Spaceship Away" but the editor decided that he would reduce my page count - and I decided that no he wasn't and pulled out all together. Although it lasted a short time it allowed me to experience life as a professional comics artist.
Hopefully it won't be my only time ^_^

nice work. Fail Safe was a profound film, unfairly overshadowed by Dr Strangelove because it did not seem to have as many jokes.

Nice pic, don't remember hearing of Failsafe..saw SAC though. There were certainly stories of RB 47's being intercpted by Mig19's..maybe even some shoot downs!

fantastic scene!!

Nice (if that's the right word) aerial history pic! The pleasant sunny day is stark contrast to the potential danger posed by either plane. FAIL SAFE is a literally a hell of a story (both the classic film and the Clooney live TV staging). It is well worth watching BUT make sure you're not disturbed and do not have to do anything for a half hour after where people may expect you to be happy. The book was actually a revision of an earlier tale, RED ALERT by Peter George. In this primal version, the errant bomber is successfuly shot down before it can somplete its tragic mission. The supersonic B58 Hustler was used here. Eugene Burdick and Harvey Wheeler expanded on George's novel as the better-known FAIL SAFE. Peter George was an uncredited screenwriter on this film. George also received screenwriting credit for DR STRANGELOVE. Then he completed the cycle by writing the paperback novelization of this second adaptation of his novel. As for the B47, its best-known screen appearance was in Jimmy Stewart's epic infomercial for the Pentagon, STRATEGIC AIR COMMAND.

Excellemundo! Niewill's MiG-19 is an excellent counterpoint to my SAC Birds. I love this composition, some very cool shaders and I love the background treatment too. This image evokes the excitement of seeing a new model kit on the shelf back in the days! I have to echo Mr. DavidEMartin, bright lights+Dark theme=Art!

Great Render. The bombers in Fail Safe were identified as the "vindicator". These were actually negative shots of stock footage of B-58 Hustlers since the Air Force didn't want to be associated with the film. It is also the first films for Dom DeLuise and Fritz Weaver. Dr. Strangelove was James Earl Jones first film.

Thanks for the comments guys - As soon as I put crew into the B47 I will be trying a 'what if' image around the possible consequences of such an increase in superpower tension... When you get models of this quality and type it's easy to let the imagination run riot.

Great picture Iain, comments above seem to say it all. Always a special pleasure to see models in use.
