Description

.. the eyes are the window of the soul, should you look in mine (the character) you might see a subdued reflection of the book of old .......... a wise woman is depicted here and yes, perhaps a tad sad for she fears that the critical mass that could save humankind may not come to pass ...... inspiration came from a journey down memory lane ...... a portrait I had on the wall of my room back in the 70s advertising "Biba" ..... It is not a true representation of the woman in that but I was inspired by her beautiful, big doe eyes! I've been so snowed under with work, I've not done any art in over a month but just had to chill for a few hours .... (and getting over this ghastly bug) , and here is the result, hope you like ;O-) (I do portraits when stressed out and have little time for full character creations ....) Character (including hair - working on that still ;) are painted; headdress that fringes the hair and brow, created using brushes by mystikel, as are the faded vines in the background. Pearl jewels available as part of a package at my store ;) Thank you for looking, I hope you enjoy! (Hope to visit some galleries on here, real soon!) =============================================================================== Note: The watermarking that appears on the web version of my work, do not appear on finished prints. As always, great work! I was most pleased a few months back to find your work being sold at the Pensacola Renaissance Faire. The merchant was touting you as the next great talent in fantasy work. I told her I've long been a fan, but to keep up the recruiting effort :) Peace, Dawn

Each time, I am hypnotized... One can definitely see and feel the wisdom in her eyes. :) Her beauty and fashion sense aren't too bad either! I love the flickers of light on her cheeks and eyes. Speaking of eyes...some of the most beautiful (and rare coloring) I think I have ever seen. Citrine or topaz comes to mind for me... but I am on a 'gem kick' these days! lol How long does a portrait like this take you? Do you notice the time at all while painting? Or do you just 'go with the flow' and get lost in it? Do you come up with the name after you are all finished? (they are always so clever and relevant) Or do you have a general idea of what you want to do when you get started? Does it usually end up the way you envisioned from the start or do you often go in a different direction than you first intended? Sorry if I asked too many questions, Pam. I am just curious about the creative process of such a talented artist. :) I seem to be learning about the 'ebb and flow' of process every single day. If what I asked is too personal to share, I will understand. Hugs, Roberta
