Description

Been a while since I submitted one from my Star Trek collection, so here's the Romulan Bird of Prey from the original TV series. I wanted to try and create an image which showed off the huge bird of prey symbol which adorns the underside of the craft. I have to confess I am pleased with the way it came out and hope that you will like it too.

Excellent "Old Skool" Trek! Reminds me of the episode where the Enterprise makes contact with the Romulans for the first time. Great work!

Fantastic image and I love the design, but, uh, wasn't it the Klingon's with the Bird of Prey? I thought the Romulan's was the Warbird. (someone correct me if I'm off base here, please) But I love the light effects!

Great render of my favorite "enemy" ship in TOS! The original Romulan warbird here is far more ominous than any number of big green meanies from STNG.

The model's heading in the right direction, but to be honest it lacks a "finished" feel; there are some odd modeling artifacts around the windows, and there looks to be some aliasing around the edges of the bird texture. Also, and this is unrelated to the critique, I recognize you background pic from the June issue of Scientific American.

The windows are the result of a Poser 'affectation'. If you pull it into your modeling program, select the edges, bevel them about .005 or so, they should come out much sharper. Or you can cheat by going into the properties of the model in Poser, and uncheck 'smooth polygons'. Pakled's curse continues - did one like this a while back, but couldn't figure out how (at the time) or where to get the 'great bird of the Galaxy'...;) Great modeling, keep it up.
