Description

This was my entry for the cover art contest. I put it together the last 24 hours before the contest ended. I had a completely different Idea that I was working on when I tried to download Renderosity's font and "R" logo... I lost the work I was working on for hours 3 different times... Computer problems and DFO problems. Anyway, my thoughts for the cover was: 1. It had to be colorful 2. It had to catch the eye 3. It had to represent ARTISTS from around the WORLD. 4. It had to be Marketable, so Rendo could put it on shirts, coffee mugs, hats, etc... 5. THE COMMUNITY COULD HANDLE LOOKING AT IT FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS - LOL I wanted Rendos ART on the cover to mean something... we are a close community of artists that really feel like we're neighbors/friends and it truely doesn't feel we live on the other side of the planet far far away. I put a female artist in there, because when thinking beauty, everyone thinks of a female - look at the pin ups on this site - who uses a male nude Pin Up??? (ok, I hear ya, BONDAGE - LOL) I originally was going to use the statue of liberty with the pallet and paint brush, but that was unfair to artists from around the world, so I went with her pose and chose long hair for the image of young and free. I loved the fractal images I got from Rita, the sun one showing energy/power - I thought that reprsented Rendo (this site gets so many uploads every few minutes) The "R" was a little tricky... I know Rendo wants to use it, so I put the fractal sun behind it to show the energy is glowing within the "R" - Which is Renderostiy. I used the continents to represnt the community.... The art is so small, you can't tell the continents are actually clouds - bummer. I wanted the community to have my vision so bad that when I had problems with my computer, I couldn't quit. I actually stayed up all night to make this so I could get it in the contest by deadline... as the night dragged on, I knew I was going to have to miss work... I called in and told them I was too exausted to make it - I DON'T DO THAT. - THAT'S HOW MUCH RENDO MEANS TO ME - This art was uploaded into the contest with only 10 minutes to spare before deadline. I can actually say I felt 90% thrilled with what I had done. I did feel I had a good chance at winning. If I was to of chosen a different entry to win, it would of been e-brinks (because of the art, even though he was the only artist I recognized in the contest)... e-brinks art was sweet - it showed a futuristic community - unfortuneately, like my design, you lost so much with the size limitations.... but, I could of handled looking at e-brinks design for the next two year. I did not win. e-brink did not win. the entry the community wanted - did not win. the enty that did win, does not have art in it. In two years, this contest will be upon us again. I beg all you fantastic artists out there to give it your all and give it a go... In my eyes, this contest was a failure... I have over a hundred favorite artists that I comment on ALL THE TIME... I only recognized one name (e-brink)... I know e-brink had a shot at winning... AND.... I know all my favorite artists out there too would of had a great chance at winning - I'm so disapointed my friends didn't come to this party.... I am disapointed with what renderostiy chose for the cover art.... WHERE WERE YOU GUYS/GALS???

Well, I don't get it. I was torn between your's and ebrinks .. and can't understand why neither won, or even placed. I could've looked at your design or ebrinks without tiring of it for the next two years.

This is a superb collection and entry, i really love it. (the staff may object that the "R" of registered trademark has been forgotten on the name Renderosity, i saw this rule in the guidelines)

Very good design work, eye catching! I like the fiery 'eye of sauron' look to the globe behind the 'R'.

very nice work sorry to here that your hard work was not paid off but it's not see that someone has so much passion for this site that they would miss work to do something for it even after fightingwith your computer! I like how you are able to explain your reasoning behimnd each aspect of the design and that it was done out the love for this community I also am guilty of not reading the front page of this site I think they shuld publiscize there contest more i've heard of poeple winning by default just because they were the only entry! in my book you should be highly commended at least as honorable mention! 10++++++ great work
