I started taking photos from an early age of 13 with a little Brownie Camera .....my passions are nature ,animals, floral and scenic views hoping to capture it all the beauty.. ...I currently use a Nikon D5000 and NIKON D 40... Nikkor 18 – 135 mm zoom 18- 200 mm VR lens  Nikkor 50mm F1.8 lens and a Nikor 60mm Macro lens ..... I use a Wacom Tablet . Apophysis , Ultra Fractal4 .. as well as PSP , Photoshop 7, Pixarra,  CS 2 and Lightroom 2 and other graphic programs for about 9 years ..I love all forms of art and photography ....I live in cape Breton . Canada, retired from Bell Canada  and am a volunteer for the Humane Society...working with the kittens from when they are born until they are adopted . I used to work with the dogs but many of the stronger ones pulled my back outÂ
thank you to everyone that looks at  and enjoy my photos :)

Excellent composition and capture! I wish we had swans here, but the ones that stopped over this past winter are long gone...

That sure is one large nest. Beautiful wildlife capture.

What a stunning image Lu! She is probably still waiting for the babies and that could be why the mate chased the ducklings away! Excellent clarity! :)
MrsLubner
I would guess that they will eventually hatch unless the raccoons or water snakes get the eggs. She appears to be quite comfortable in her queenly place in her lake-side apartment. :-)

I just think of all the work it went into to make that glorious nest. It is quite beautiful seeing her there.

No need to get closer, the swan chose a safe spot for her nest. Excellent as always.

This is just spectacular - mother nature at her best. Perfect contrast. Whole wheat bread is best for the cygnets. Toss it into the water. Never dry. Don't get to close. Either parent will attack with a vengeance. The bite is bad enough but the wings can do the most damage, especially to your forearms. Do update us as they hatch. I've seen as many as eight cygnets. I love all the variations of the grasses in this, in the back, in her bedding, and reflected in the water. You captured her pose perfectly, too.
