Ran across a lot of old pics of me and my family that might be interesting. Here is one of me on the far right. It is a small scanned B&W pic so not the sharpest. UPDATE: for some reason I didn't ID the acft. It is an F-8 Crusader.

Nice shot. The Marine Corps flew them in DaNang. Saw one crash there during take-off and a 1000lb bomb blew up. Their flight characteristics were similar to the F-104s. Never slow, either during langing or take-off. The whole wing rotated during landing and take-off for extra lift and they had the same tricycle landing gear as the F-104. Top speed was similar to the F-101, about Mach 1.85.
