Description
Not sure what kind of bird this is ..but if someone could tell me it would be highly appreciated!!!
There is nothing in which the birds differ more from man than the way in which they can build and yet leave a landscape as it was before.

It's not unlike our European Starling, I may be wrong?...But that aside Trina, this is a great little shot, great how the fnceline draws the eye in.

Phooey, I'm semi-stuck. I'v done a quick leaf through of my Field Guide to North American Birds. The long beak and lack of a prominant forehead throws me. I got the spring birds of Kansas down fairly well but we need someone who has been looking at birds longer than I have. If your bird had a yellow breast he could be an Eastern or Western Meadowlark based on shape and back coloring. Anyway...good catch and a darn good question.

Very nice shot of this lovely bird! I'm not sure what kind it is though.

Some kind of flicker, perhaps? Nice looking bird, and great capture!

First glance I would have guessed a meadowlark, however it may well be an immature woodpecker of sorts. Hard to tell from the view.

My guess is female Red-Winged Blackbird...but I'm no expert.

I'm just happy with the photo. Great capture. Dana

I agree with bmac62, definitely a meadowlark, just depends on which state you live in whether it's the eastern or western species.

I cant see the breast if its yellow and judging by the strips on its head and dark brown spots. I have to go along with Cavalierlady and Bmac62 and say its a meadowlark, nice capture.
