Description
I know, I know it reminds you of the Led Zeppelin angel, well it is not the same and that was not my reference. The angel, fallen or otherwise, was a centerpiece of many of the paintings during the renaissance. I think that this one specifically came from a Botticelli, if I remember correctly. I saw it in a book once some time ago.
Anyway a tattoo design that I whipped up, and yes the fallen angel theme, idea and image is used quite often in the tattoo world as well.

Yup ... first thing I thought was Zeppelin. Fantastic work! I love the softness of your shading. If this image was your inspiration, it explains the similarity to the Zeppelin logo ... it was also the source reference for the Swan Song logo.

Great work my friend. I really like the softness of the lighting and shading. As for the inevitable comparison to Zeps album cover, you are so correct... the fallen angel was symbolic with the dawn of Christianity... LONG BEFORE Led Zeppelin was even conceived.

Wow - auntietk That is the image I saw!!! Not really renaissance and not really European huh, but that is what my reference was. Thank you for finding it! I had seen it in a book that I checked out from the library and done a sketch from it for a class. So of course when I wanted to do a fallen angel that is the sketch I looked for! Again thank you! And thank you SirJohn for that wonderful comment too!
