Description

Hi Everyone, As promised a photo of the cabinets I built in place for the farmhouse we remodeled for my Boss to live in. The reflection on the refrigerator even shows the deck and rail behind where I stood to take the photo, as well as the face of the wall oven does. If you look close to the left up on the ceiling there is a music speaker cover not yet filling a hole there. On close inspection the upper cabinet over the sink is also missing the glass in the door due to a simple oops down where the glass was cut for me.( they cut five instead of six panels of glass. The flooring is Hickory, the cabinets white pine painted, the walls and ceiling are sheet rock. A lot of the old uneven bits of the structure remain, look close above the wall cabinet next to the refrigerator you can see a taper to the upper rail above the cabinet doors that follows the old contour of the original house. In thirty eight feet across the back of the house the granite slab foundation was four inches out of level for example, making it difficult to bring things to level even over two floors of height. I did manage to bring the exterior to a clean level by the roof line, so the siding and overall appearance became respectable. Things like this made for extra care in fitting every piece of the house into a presentable form. Somewhere on a disc I do have old photos from back when we began ripping and tearing down the interior walls here. I may look harder to find those and put some sort of a collage together for anyone interested. Thank you for viewing and again any comment is welcome as well as very much appreciated. Best of Friday's to All -GB-

Beautiful work and photo George but I will never understand why people want to live in old Historic houses that look all new. Wouldn't it be easier and more energy efficient just to live in a newer structure?? Not bitching your work is wonderful- just confused:) Cynthia

Beautiful job George. Will it be possible to shoot it again after things are moved in and maybe at night to get a glimpse of how the ceiling lights work out? I know that is a lot of extra fiddling...but if your boss invites you over for a house warming or something :-)

I'd be interested in seeing the transformation. I love remodeling homes, but I must say, I've never gone to this extent. Mostly taking something and upgrading it by 40 years. Flooring and entire walls would be a fabulous project! Love the work you did here. I have worked with frames for a good part of my live but I have always been awed by trim carpentry - such precision!

Some lucky person will have a wonderful place to enjoy. I don't know the words to use to express how much I like this kitchen.I can appreciate all the hard work. My father was a carpenter. He spent many hours remodeling and making things. He had steady work because my mother always had a new project for him. You have done an outstanding job. I would love to see any photos you would like to share. Thanks for sharing with all of us.

A great job in melding of the old and the new here. The floor is absolutely killer! Add a few lemons in a basket on the countertop and send this to a magazine.
