Yesterday we went just beyond the border to call on some Mohawk friends in Akwesasne. We asked where we could find some Harley-Davidson T-shirts, we are fond of. One of them told us to go to a friend of his some miles past Massena, NY, so today we went there. The place was in a garage transformed into a custom cycle shop. They also had some fine T-shirts and leather jackets. Among the various gadgets I saw this piece of political humor: a sex dollars' bill. No way to buy it, it was not for sale. It's a piece of history in its own way,so I put it here. While it's a treat for the Republicans, it isn't meant to offend the Democrats. Actually, one has to understand the context of the North Country in upstate New York: the crisis bites hard here. Last year they closed the GM car factory on the US side and the Domtar paper factory on the Canadian side.Unemployment and smuggling are rampant.People are angry. Hillary Clinton, however, was loved by these people, who have always voted for her. We are back in Quebec now, in Sorel. Thank you for your kind comments.
