Description

This is my very first humble attempt at the grunge thing!!!! I am really sticking my neck out here to place it next to amazing images from Shari, Piet and many other artists!!! Well, there always has to be a first!! LOL... Thank you Shari for your tutorial and Piet for talking me through some of the techniques!! You guys rock! The title and image so perfectly reflect my mood today as I am trying to work through some huge frustrations... At least my granddaughter is coming to spend the day, so that should help me forget the crap for a while! Thank you for popping in and for your very valued comments and favs on my previous upload! Hugs, Carin xx

I'm still not sure about this technique! I come from the 'tight and sharp' brigade, and it's taken me ages to get to grips with adventurous postwork. We'll see.

Straight out the vaults of the Metropolitan Police Scotland Yard archives, they were all about an unidentified serial killer, a little known chap by the name of Jack the Ripper, you did well for a first crack of the whip my friend! This would make a top background for a Ripperologist web site, I should know, I am a Ripperologist, and have visited a few :D

It is fun to fiddle with. By chance, I just did my first one yesterday too. Think I will do my next one using a layer mask to keep my subject from being grunged.

That is great, Carin! Wonderful tones and textures, ... all you needed was a crow sitting atop the lamp post!

Wow, this is masterful! YOU FIRST attempt? Great work, I love the simplicity, clean lines and, of course, the grunge.

Well, even after having seen the preliminary attempts, this is stunning and deserves a second glance in this art form. I think your ultimate choice of which areas to leave ungrunged is excellent. Keep up the good work, I would love to see more.

This turned out so great. I love how the background texture can be seen through the glass of the lamp.

Oh, that's how grunge is supposed to look! That is simply stunning, Carin! You really hit the nail on the head with your first attempt. I'd better reassess my strategy and try to come up with something more deserving of the name in my concepts. And,your title perfectly describes the past month vis-a-vis my health and family relationships.
