I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

I have spent many months in the Grand Canyon. Even a real picture cannot come close to portraying it as it really is. Try darkening the rock a few shades and eliminating the vegetation around the water where it looks like it is solid rock. Can't recall any backwater that looks like that. Was this a dem file? The water color would be either green or reddish brown ( especially below where the Little Colorado confluence or during spring run off) and if your lucky and spend time at Havasu Creek, travertine. Rio Colorado ( Red River) got its name because it runs red from time to time. Best river trip you can do and there is nothing like drinking an ice cold beer down there 2 weeks into the trip with another week or 2 to go!

Bob, love this one, the eagle why I can almost here his screech of joy at flying there. POV and terrain are superb. The size of the flora adds to the size of the mountains. Love it...
