Description

In the sport of cricket, an appeal is the act of a player on the fielding team asking an umpire for a decision regarding whether a batsman is out or not. According to the Laws of Cricket, an umpire may not rule a batsman out unless the fielding side appeals. There have been occasions when a batsman has otherwise technically been out, but the fielding team neglected to appeal so the umpire did not declare them out. An appeal may be made at any point before the bowler starts his run-up for the next ball. Taken last night for my company. This was a prctice match, the real match is on Thursday so expect many more over the next few days. Thank you for looking, as always any comments or suggestions welcome 8~) ** BEST VIEWED FULLSIZE ** thumb_1907756.jpg

Great timing on this photo, I like the intense concentration on his face. I've only gotten to try Cricket once, when I was in college and knew a couple of students from Australia. It was really fun, I wish the sport was played here in the U.S. Great capture.

my father and grandfather both tried to explain the rules to this game to me for many years. About the time I thought I understood it, I realized I hadn't a clue. I suppose its what you grow up with and know that shapes your view of sports. I played softball from the age of 5 until I finally had to drop out in Jr. High because I had had a tendon defect in both feet and my corrective shoes were not so good for baseball.(I'd had a team mate run for me when I batted - but I never missed a pitch. I could hit high, low, inside or out with total accuracy. Mother nature has a sick sense of humor sometimes...)

How did we miss the boat completely on Cricket? It must have begun in Great Britain at a time we were on the outs with each other:) Excellent action.
