Description

Ducks at Paine Art Center. I walked up on their nest. I didn't want to get too close. I thought you would like to see them. Thanks for looking. Thank you for all the comments on my previous posts, they all mean so much to me. Your Friend Always, Cheri

This is the pair I had mentioned way back on Cheri's post on the 19th. I was wondering how it might have turned out,...apparently really great!!! The female was out strutting about, and we caught each others eye. She gave me that familiar and knowing smile, and walked back into the brush. What could I do but follow, and started to make my way in. That was when I saw HIM, sitting on the nest, protecting their new to be family. He tried to ignore my presence, pretend that I wasn't there. She turned her head to me, a sad look in her eye....and I realized that we were but two ships passing in the night, each acknowledging the other, but there was to be nothing more. I backed out of the brush, a bit sad, to here Cheri ask what I was doing. I just shrugged my shoulders, dropped my head and said "ducks". She went to go see, and this is the result. It just wasn't meant to be, and I knew in my heart that this shot was destined to end up here, I hope you enjoy it.....sigh. WOW!!! I didn't think this was going to turn out so well, it was a bit dark in there. Sweet grab baby.

Terrific exercise in dappled lighting and silhouetting in this stealth capture, Cheri! I wonder what would have happened if you had moved very slowly, inch by inch, toward the nest.

LOL @ Dave! The female DOES look a little down. The light is great - it shows off the ducks nicely, but I really like the shadows and light on the wall.

I totally agree with Auntiek about the light. It really makes a good image into a great image. ^=^

Great work. You say that you didn't want to get too close, but from wherever you stood, you really caught some great details and amazing shadows. I love it when photography comes out like this: it's half the fun of doing photography.
