Description

“When I was twelve, she called to me. We were alone; father was with the war committee discussing the idea of raiding the nearest Enclave. She was skin and bone now, a living ghost of the woman she had been. Her words… her words hurt me, I cried for a long time and hugged her, told her no, I wouldn’t do it, couldn’t, but she kept insisting, pleading and begging. Mother God had found her, was coming to take her back. She told me to let her go, to tell no one, not even my father, and to leave…” The tears were flowing freely now, heavy droplets falling silently to the dirty concrete floor. “I don’t know how long I held her before I pulled the wires away, it seemed like forever. I watched her pain as she died, saw her tears and heard her speak my name one last time. Then she was gone. I kissed her and said goodbye, told her I loved her, and then I ran… Okay, as promised, the full size image from my previous post. It has changed a bit, darker and more in keeping with how I see the story. Please, if you haven't already, go to my last upload and read. This one just felt right.
