Description

I'm going to try another one with the mannequins. Hey, they can get in the music store, can't they. I don't know. There just seems something wrong with a mannequin in a halter top. Please comment!

The only thing wrong is that they should all be (gay) men. I think the proper order is: Cop, Construction Worker, Leather Boy, Indian Chief. But I could be off.

Um, I don't think she was going for the Village People. I think she was going for generic individuals (figure that one out), who are performing the YMCA dance. I think it shows how hollow and wooden some people are. Perhaps to show the futility of it all? After all, we're just puppets when it comes down to it. Puppets of the music business, puppets of various organizations. Each figure is alike - it has conformed, even though it wears a different style of clothing. Is this vanity? Is this the attempt to cover up our increasing lack of individuality? And what of the all black background? We're all just lost in space, with no sense of direction. Like true puppets should be. I feel that this piece can offer us a lot of food for thought. And its not about the f'ing Village People.
