Description

May as well share this one which I have been working on while I am still connected to the Web. THE STORY GOES:______________ Old Rose, a widow now for over 40 years time, kept the memory of her deceased husband alive by remaining in the mansion they both shared for many years. Named Briarwood, the large structure and estate grounds were once abuzz with the society life prominent to those who were quite wealthy. Rose, herself coming from 'old money,' was determined early on in life, to marry a man whose bank account matched or exceeded her own. Living well into her 90's, Rose decided that she only needed a few rooms of the mansion to be content with. Retaining only her loyal driver and household cook in employ, she cared not for the state of disrepair which the once grand house began to show. She would soon be with her beloved husband and being childless, only great-nephews and nieces remained as relatives; and they only wanted the money, not the estate house. Rose has now passed on, having joined her beloved husband in the family burial plot in the nearby cemetery. The estate, once bustling grounds and mansion now remain only as a crumbling mass of stone, mortar, plaster and iron rods. Nature begins its task of overtaking man's handiwork and reclaiming the land just as it will reclaim the body of Old Rose. BTW, Rose received her nickname by coming from 'old money.' _________________________________________________ Thanks for viewing, reading the story and any comments you care to share.
