Description

Our annual street fireworks with the family. These fireworks are sold from stands as fund raising for groups (sport teams, churches .. whoever wants to put in the time). The fireworks are illegal in the surrounding cities, and were almost illegal here.. but for some pushy people and petitions... lol. We have had them here in this city since I was a kid... The fireworks are set on the ground and lit. They burn for a miserly few seconds, sending off more smoke than sparks. They are not inexpensive either. But the kids have fun (and so do the adults). So, every year we spend a smokey hour or so, watching the street fire works. Any fireworks that leave the ground are illegal (except for the professional shows)... but I saw quite a few of those illegal fireworks last night! I took over 300 photos last night, experimenting with exposure times.. and darn it.. I forgot my tripod so everything is hand held :) Hope you all enjoyed your holiday! Hugs, ~Melinda~ My previous upload, "Refreshing"

How about the mess that's left behind after the spectacular fiery and smoke filled exhibit? I bet it looked like a tornado had hit after the sun came up. I live in a portion of LA County that does not restrict the sale or use of fireworks. So, it was the battle of El Alamein all over again around here last night. Anyway, even without a tripod, a most brilliant and impressive capture of the fireworks display, Melinda. I bet the kids were going hyper wild.

You did very well for hand held and even an interesting speck of detail about the surrounds and the people!
