many of them growing in my hometown, they are my favorite trees, since the poem of Marsman (dutch poet)
"Denkend aan holland
zie ik brede rivieren,
traag door oneindig laagland gaan..
en rijen ondenkbaar ijle populieren
statig aan den einder staan
thinking of holland
I see huge rivers,
slowly pass the low lands
and rows of very aetheral poplars
showing at the horizon...

Populieren heb ik altijd met bewondering bekeken. Ik vind dat ze "zingen" bij lichte bries. Zeer mooie opname is het.
