Yeah, I realize I've done the 'dragon protector' theme before but there's something about a hot babe guarding cute little dragon babies. At least for me. :) Ok, seriously, this started out as a portrait. (I can never seem to just do a portrait...) The portrait took forever to render.. and I didn't like it. Tried a ton of lights. People have asked about my lighting. Well, I try all different kinds of lighting until I get the 'right look'. Anyway, I ended up rendering the full size version. Then I used a background I had created - using a rendered prop from Danie and Marforno and lots of painting in Photoshop. Especially on the flowers and vines and clouds and moon, etc.... Then I figured it needed something else... yes, baby dragons! So each dragon was rendered individually and postworked in Photoshop to be blue - to match the setting.
In theory... this shouldn't do well in relation to comments. I've found that the more work I do, the lower the response. But... I'm always optimistic. There have been exceptions. {Smile}
BTW, I had time to work on this today because I worked from home. I worked from home because our hot water heater broke and I needed to be here to occasionally mop up the water that keeps leaking out from it. We'll have it worked on tomorrow. It will cost us a fortune. Oh well. That's life I guess.

WOWW AMAZINGlY BEAUTIFUL!! just read that you started this one out as an portrait..funny isn't it, where the art is bringing you..you never know when you start a project how it turns out at the end..it is just moving you untill it's done.. Fantastic warrior scene..love all the details in it..the blue dragons are cool and as for the lightings...i do the same as you do ... i always try out different lightings untill i am satisfied..strong and gorgeous scene..love it! FAV!

Gotta agree with you Lori, there is something special about a hot babe gaurding little dragons that is awesome. I'll never get tired of these as long as you keep putting them out with your own touch of magic added in.

Well I for one think this is just about one of your best. Thank you for sharing in its compostion for I would hate to think in any way it could have been easy! I adore your main character, especially the almost cartoon render style. She could have stood alone against some stylized simple background and been an arty commercial poster piece. But oh no, not you, you had to take it the several levels beyond! She fits fantastic into your complicated background and it is hard to believe those dragons were not rendered into the image because they are seamless, your shadow burn is outstanding. "Way cool" outfit for sure. All in all an outstanding piece of work that I cannot let go of.

Excellent image. If you like babes protecting small dragons then read "Dragonsong" By Anne Anne McCaffrey. I love her whole Dragons of Pern series and Dragonsong was the book that got me into it.

that was a ton of work lori,but i can see that you had fun -i really love the blue theme -as we have our living room in blue hehehe-really. i love this character as well,she looks mean to me,will say that nobody with bad intentions against the dragons can approach them.
