Description

Digitaleagle mentioned that I should begin seeing juveniles showing up at my feeder soon. I think that is what I've got here. This photo was taken 2-3 mornings ago...just prior to my Safflower seed discovery. I think these are one of several kinds of common sparrows in the area. Does anybody have a better handle on what we're looking at here? This group, although four in number here, has been arriving as a flight of five. CHANGE 1. Digitaleagle helped me out again:-) These are House Finches. I have seen a male with them although he is not here at this time. The male has red on the front of his head and bib and rump. Thanks for looking, Bill:)

The two in the middle look really young. I think you got most of the family. Great shot!!!!!!!!

you know I studied bird songs, but I don't know a physical bird from another bird. So I always learn when you identify them for us. This is a wonderful shot, with the 'kids' spread out looking around the way kids do, and one of them pretty much chowing down. Nice spread of the birds, and I love how one of them is looking over the ledge with tilted head, as if to say, "whoa, we're up pretty high!" I like that you got them on the bottom third of the shot, and that bowl—that big bright orange bowl?—It's a great accent in every shot. Don't know if you chose it for that color, but it's been in a lot of your shots, and I for one am really glad: It adds a real punch! Really nice work once more, in angle and postures, and glad you're still posting these. (I'll stop here for now—god I still haven't caught up! But I get a good bunch everytime! Congratulations on 400! See you next time, which I hope will be sooner than this one!)
