Hi, I'm Marilyn. Ă‚Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Ă‚Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Ă‚Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Ă‚Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Ă‚Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Ă‚Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Ă‚Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Ă‚Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

What a neat lighthouse. I just read the entire wiki article. Glad the fog horn was replaced. A fog horn has such a hauntingly, fascinating sound.

A quiet shot and well done. So, what's the history on this? :-) There are so many lovely lighthouses on the upper coast and they don't all have fascinating stories... just curious if this one does.

This is amazing. It looks like a postcard, professionally I mean. Great quality. You caught everything perfectly. I like the way that red roof stands out, even though there is all sorts of color everywhere in this. Great work!

When I was fishing alone at nights, I depended on these lights. A welcome capture. Aloha

another of your beautiful shots of light concentrated on one area; and the deep play of shadows that follows. You seem to be capturing—or at least posting—a number of these kinds of shots, with an intense single source of light, and beautiful modulated shadows. This struck me the first time I saw it, and strikes me just as much now. And it's not just the beautiful light atop the lighthouse & the way it brings out the reds and gorgeous blue shadows; but also the blue shadows themselves, very rich atop and deeper & more reflective below. The rest of the shot is deep-shadow and reflection & feels like we should go into it and rest & journey. I love this shot, it's stunning, and filled with power & mystery in a very small space. Terrific work M! (I'll get to more next time...slowly I'm catching up...besides, I just took a trip on a river with you and almost was done in! I need rest...)
