Description

“Desert Ruins on 40 Eridani A” Four hundred kilometers north of the city of ShiKahr in the great desert is little known ruins from pre-history. Traveling to these ruins is full of danger, for the desert is teeming with Le-Matya and Sehlats looking for a quick meal, not to mention the electromagnetic storms which can kill just as fast. The background is rendered in Terragen and the planet and building in Poser 5. Postwork done in PhotoImpact Pro. I appreciate your comments. Thank you for taking the time to look at my work.

Cool sci-fi scene and narrative Brent, you've done a great job combining those renders! Glad to see you posting again.

Nice composition and I like the landscape. I don't know much about PhotoImpact Pro so I don't know if you can do this or not with that software but a good tip for making planets look realistic in the sky is to render them separately and then put them on an "additive" layer over the top of the rest of the image with a bit of transparency so that they blend with the atmosphere. When that is combined with side lighting for a phase effect it makes them look more distant and celestial.

Great use of the UnEarth Towers Bear. I like how the mountains use the same type of materials as the towers, gives the towers that organic feel, if you know what I mean. I'm not that crazy about the planet and its placement though, it seems to throw off the composition. I like DMFW's idea of a transparancy ajustment. A huge amount of light coming from behind the mountains in one area would rock too! Anyway, just my spin on things! Cool stuff bud!
