Description
Just before arriving at Bradburyton, O'Malley asked: "Can you tell me how that voodoo magic work, that one you performed on the RAT sniper, sir?"
JS grinned: "It's a highly classified magic, and if I tell you it..."
"After that, he'll have to kill you!" M'Buna concluded the sentence.
All of them laughed, except a puzzled Eve, who couldn't understand Earthener humor at all.
JS ordered M'Buna to send the RAT body to GOD henchmen ASAP, and O'Malley to reset the He-bot.
Then he accompanied Eve to his lodgings to change her clothes. While going there Eve burst out: "So, this is the way you live, all this horrible things!"
Usually these words were the opening sentence of judgemental people who functioned as judge, jury and hangman. So JS, put on the defense, muttered: "Someone has to do it."
Eve felt his mood changing, so she went closer to him and cried: "No, no. I mean I didn't know you have to stand all this mayhem. And I was trying your patience with trifles. You're too good with me...". JS thought it was the first time he was accused of being good.
Once at JS's lodgings, Eve went to take a shower saying: "It'll take 5 minutes".
In these "5 minutes", JS managed to write a succint, but exhaustive, report for GOD, to have a meal brought to his place, and to speed up some red tape procedures.
When Eve came out of the shower, saw her gauze dress and pronounced: "That stupid dress, I don't want it any longer! Where are my fatigues?" "To the laundry!"
JS realized that the shower had washed off also her good intentions, so he gave her one of his tank top and gym shorts. "Give me 5 minutes for a shower", he told her. "Then, I'll accompany you to your home".
When he came back some minutes later, he saw Eve sitting on the edge of the bed, sporting a mulish look. "What's the matter?" he frowned.
"I don't feel like going home and being asked what happened. The others would want to know, and I can't speak about that yet. Can I stay here, please?"
"Of course, no problem..." but Eve interrupted him, suddenly getting up and going closer to him jerkily: "Swear you'll help us! Promise that you won't allow them to kill us that way. We don't kill that way even a mad slugh!" She grasped his arm: "Swear to me that you'll teach us how to fight, to make war! Swear it!"
JS looked at Eve. She was shivering with anguish and anger, her beautiful eyes brilliant with fury. JS embraced her tight and kissed her with hard lips.
Eve wrapped her arms around his neck. She clung at him, hungrily, fiercely. They slid down on the floor as if their knees had buckled.
At once, with maddening obstinacy, the interphone started flashing the signal of GOD's direct line call. JS broke the kiss summoning up all his willpower. "I must answer, he said huskily. "I can't tell GOD to go to the devil, can I?"

First, I come back after 6 months, and the next installment (for me) has a steamy love scene! Great way to pick up where I left off. I often think I'll go to your more recent entries, because your style may have changed since 2009, and I may be unfair to stay back 5 years ago. But when I've done that, I realized I was way behind on the details, and couldn't quite understand what was happening. So I go back to my stopping-point instead. Sorry I'm so far behind, I'm very, very slow with comments, and even slower with literary uploads. You and Chip are, if I recall correctly, the only writers I comment on all year. And while I do you in a few bunches through the year, and Chip more spread out (single pieces, every so often), I do about the same number of comments in both your galleries. I wish I were faster, but unfortunately I'm not. But it's a pleasure to be back here. And now to the piece... Once again, you build the tensions with fun and serious banter mixed. When they enter his place, the place is either a mess, or it's filled with things that make us think he's got tons of work stuff everywhere---which is a fun detail in their relationship. (And we wonder, what does he have here...) And she winds up wearing his tank top and shorts, another delightful detail (and not the first thing one expects to see in a futuristic place after a major battle). That's a hell of a tank top, btw, green w/ some kind of mesh-like material (breathes well, I assume), with an elaborate design on it: From the little I can see, it looks like a bird of some kind. After a pleading serious speech from Eve, they grab each other and fall to the ground. We've been waiting for this, and it was well led-up-to! And I also like the detail of all JS did while Eve was in the shower---it's almost as if he wanted to get everything out of the way before she came out. (The way you wrote it, I was half expecting him to build a balcony and attic from scratch, and have energy left over for a new kitchen. What he does when she's in the bathroom is another fun detail in your prose.) And of course you end the installment with another interruption---in this case, a phone call while they're on the floor going at it: a great way to stop the action and make us curious for what's next. I've had that sense in your tales many times, now: The way you take us into the action, then suddenly break the action, preparing us for the next chapter. All well done, humorously, and tenderly too. As for the image...aside form the kissing couple---which is the centerpiece of the image, and very well done---your details are a lot of fun. The computer screen has some great futuristic looking folders, 3D and filled with stuff we'd expect to find in computers of the future. And the desk (I'd give anything for a long desk like that) is minimal, with I think a gun or something like it, that paper he was working on, and a sculpture which, whatever function it serves in the story, looks positively Oceanic. A great tribal piece, with a tribal person painted on front, and that squat stature that some indigenous statuary has. Because it's a spare image, the kissing couple really stands out. Nice lighting and posing---if that's the right word (I remind you, I know nothing about 3D, so my terms aren't technical). The kiss is very well done. And I like the deep blue of the desk and floor (maybe?) contrasted with the flesh tones and greens of the couple. Nice details on the jeans too (ever so slightly open---nice suggestivity). Another fine entry, both in storyline and in visual. And I want to tell that statue "mind your own business!" Onto the next installment...
