Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Thank you. I just went and read through what haiku is. Did this come up in your writing class experience? Now, you'll have me thinking about what I might be able to put in 17 or less syllables. Oh, no :-) Now to me, the pictured scene above represents that week of turmoil. I don't see any rest here...yet. Was that what you intended? I only ask because you typically use beach scenes to convey peace.

Soothing sounds of the waves.... Aloha

Great work!! It says to me that when those waves come crashing down I have the whole world on my shoulders....when the water runs back to the ocean, the weight is lifted and the burden is gone!

Hmmmm - I can so relate my friend! In a way I agree with Bill - I see no peace here... I hope you find it dear Marilyn - I hope we ALL do! Excellent work! :)

You've just reminded me how much I used to love writing Haiku. Excellent and a perfect pic to go with it.

The wave shot fits perfectly with the Haiku...so much unrest and the need for calm.

Wonderful little prose maz, we have our weeks eh?. and our days too, life can suck the big one at times, but around the corner there is always some light and love, and a feeling of reward, this is so lovely! RE: The bee shot, the Joe was in the thermos :)

You've been working hard, in more ways than one! Hang in ... you'll be able to rest soon!

This is a haiku to make Chiyo-ni and Basho very proud! They're two of my favorite poets, and haiku is one of my favorite poetic forms. Fantastic work...and as with true haiku, you end with a potent emotional whammy. Fantastic work.

Very good! This is one thing I doubt I'll ever be able to do... Picture works perfectly with the words for me:)

well you couldn't get a higher compliment than chip's, the two poets he mentioned are great at the form, and Basho is one of the great zen masters...and I echo tara's comments too, they're actually prophetic now...I know how it is, I know how it feels, and your haiku expresses it perfectly, line by line and with your last line giving the 'turn'. Beautiful simple piece and powerful photo. Tortured, I walk on deep shores with dark crashing waves. Peace calls from the mists...

Deep thoughts behind your words! and rest to me does not always means peace... as well peace, may also be turbulent somehow.I think it´s life taking place:-)) Your work is very touching as always.
