Opening bid
Remember the days when pleasure and play
Were all that you had to fill the hours
The games that you played and friends that you made
Prepared you to climb life's beckoning towers
And evermore people were changing the level
Of consciousness of your expression of self
But you became blind to the lies that your mind
Built around you to shield your newly found wealth
Then time slipped away before you could stay
To do all the things that you had meant to do
You borrowed more time to finish the crime
Of withholding self, and being untrue to you
Your mind is forever and time is the giver
Of every thought that you've ever had
As days fill the years the smiles and the tears
Remain in your memories good and bad
Silence fills the emptiness of noise
Time to look and see what life employs
To sow the seeds for life to come
The people have changed, the days rearranged
And time will no longer wait upon your needs
The games of today are no longer play -
They're setting your pace, to follow or to lead
Forever is never and life is the giver
Of every emotion that you've ever felt
Your thoughts fill the days in so many ways -
Now play with the cards that you have been dealt

An effective and thoughtful poem with an important life lesson. I liked "forever is never" and "Silence fills the emptiness of noise". There's some nice phrasing and imagery in this and I like how you used the theme of playing cards throughout.
