Description

Shortly after 15:00 on the 25th of October 1944, the Fletcher class destroyer USS Melvin DD 680 of DESRON 54 began launching torpedoes. The target, the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Fuso, as a result a hit near the base of the huge “Pagoda style” mast resulted in the Fuso breaking in two at around 15:30. It was a major blow to Nishimura's "Southern Force" in the Surigao Strait at The Battle of Leyte Gulf, one of the largest naval battles in History. They will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you," says the LORD, "to deliver you." I didn't know any of the warships in WWII got close enough to engage each other with torpedoes. I'm going to have to read up on the battle of Leyte Gulf! Nice looking image, well put together!
