Description

We were lucky enough to see this magnificent ship come to our area. KRUZENSHTERN is 376-foot in length, four-masted barque rig, and the second largest traditional sail training vessel in the world still in operation. The ship was built in 1927 as PADUA in Bremerhave, Germany, and was given to the USSR in 1946 as war reparation after World War II. She was renamed KRUZENSHTERN after the early 19th century Baltic German explorer in Russian service, Adam Johann Krusenstern (1770-1846). Since 1990 the vessel has been used as a sail training vessel by the Baltic Academy in Kalingrad, Russia and is supported by Tall Ship Friends, a non-profit organization in Hamburg, Germany. Thank you for taking the time to view and comment.

Great shot of a lovely vessel. Very curious to see the upper foremast has been stepped (lowered) altering from her normal appearance. Thanks for sharing.

Great shot of the tall ship. Most of all I am glad to see you posting again. Hope you don't mind but I've been using your lighthouse posted in January as wallpaper on my desktop ever since you posted it...colors and size are perfect for my 22" widescreen monitor.
