Description
*With each turning
*Of the Cycloid,
*In dimensions
*Beyond number
*Comes a tumble
*Of those cuboids,
*Many sided
*Countless faces-
*Ever unfair . . . never nice.
*Watch them spin on,
*So capricious,
*White and spotted,
*Always loaded,
*Yet you, hopeless,
*Reach to gamble,
*Tossing for a
*Risky payback-
*Smack the haughty! Ifni's dice. . . .*
Unknown cetecean poet in trinary haiku.
Inspired by:
Earthclan novels, "Heaven's Reach" by David Brin. Book Three of the second trilogy.
Those interested in fantastically rich and entertaining SciFi should check these out. The titles in order are:
"Sundiver"
"Startide Rising"
"Uplift War"
"Brightness Reef"
"Infinity's Shore"
"Heaven's Reach"
I was playing with DAZ this evening and felt compelled to create this image when I thought about the many SciFi's I've read over the years.
I've placed it in the "Beginner's" section because I'm not happy with my freehand editing of the image but it still speaks to me.
Background created in The GIMP and imported into DAZ.
Cloudy Brushes by Skully (http://scully7491.deviantart.com/) converted for The GIMP by fencepost of www.gimptalk.com (free for non-commercial use)
Moons, Stars, Sparkles brushes by Falln Stock (free for non-commercial use)
Objects created and shaded/lighted in DAZ as primitives by me.
Postwork in The GIMP.
As always I welcome comments and constructive criticism.

Very clever image and nicely matched with the haiku you've used. Love the background and colour choice. The spotting on the die seems a tad off, but, by a long shot, better than I could do! grin Nicely done.

Very creative work, looks simple at first glance but the way you've combined the elements works really well, very nice work!
