Description

Took a day to explore some of the delightful west country views where I am fortunate to live, and ventured into Somerset, on my way to Minehead and Dunster Castle I found Allerford. Picturesque Allerford is the home of the West Somerset Museum of Rural Life. The village has an unusual thatched school house and an old double-arched packhorse bridge paved with cobbles, shown here. The nearby secluded and unspoiled hamlet of Luccombe lies at the foot of Dunkery Beacon. It has many delightful cottages built in traditional local style Allerford is a thatched village, noted for it's red sandstone packhorse bridge, this pretty little village lies between Minehead and Porlock within the Exmoor national park

Beautiful to say the least and the cobble stones and bridge work keeps me riveted. Unfortunately very little of our cobble stone pavings survived.

This is what endears me to your country. I've been watching Miss Marple lately. And what I love about it is it takes place in scenes like this.

I think aside from the marvelous cobblestone bridge here, the chimineys are the eye-catchers for me. They speak volumes as does this very tranquil composition. Stunning work.

This appears right away to be an English country home, and what a beautiful capture! I was looking through my England shots today and wishing I could go back. :)
