Description

Best viewed full size. This is for Peggy (pearl3d). Peggy is recovering from some tough times but she never fails to produce some of the most stunning warrior girl art here at renderosity. I consider Peggy to be a mentor for her works truly inspired me as I tried to figure out how she did them. Peggy also has a deep routed spirituality and I can see her being on either side of this conflict. Had she been a Milesian she would have been among the first to offer peace with the vanquished. And had she been a Tautha De Danaan she would have bravely lead her people into battle and then into the spirit world. I love so much of Peggy's work but I have a special place for the warrior girl"Medessa ElfWarrior" and the dark beauty "Nyx" I used Tabala's Magic Metals in the material room to create the gold surfaces in the shrine. It really gives a different look. Though her army was victorious at the battle of Tailtiu, Scota, Queen Mother of the invading Milesian's was killed in battle against the Tautha De Danaan. Here we see her poet, Amergin weeping over the body of his mistress at her funeral rites. The ceremony was also attended by the captain of the Danaan, not as a vanquished foe but as an honoured and respected warrior. A pact between Amergin and the Tautha De Danann captain had led to the division of Ireland into the world of the humans and the world of the spirits. From this moment, both these Irish races would flourish in this unique Gaelic partnership. Though Scota perished in this battle, her name would live on as her people took her name for their own and they became the Scots. This group of Irishmen eventually went on to invade Scotland and gave their name in turn to that noble race. Scota's grave is said to be in County Kerry, south of the Town of Tralee at Glen Scoithin which means vale of the little flower. For their part the Tuatha De Danaan agreed to dwell underground in the side, which are the earthen mounds that are scattered around Ireland. Many of these sites have turned out to be ancient burial mounds, giving rise to the idea that these were the homes of the pre-celtic occupants of Ireland. And that dear reader brings to a conclusion my version of the Legend of Scota. Thank you all for bearing with me over the many months it took me to tell this wonderful tale. I hope you enjoyed it. Special thanks to Moonbunnie whose gift of Neila inspired this series. Blessed be. Roxy Previous in Scota series

You have woven such a rich tapestry in all the images of this series - your textures and attention to detail is stunning, the time it must take to build these images, render and postwork them must be awesome, but its not just the mechanics of it - it's also the quality of the vision that you portray in sheer emotional power. If these images and the tale they tell were in a book I'd buy it. Magnificent work - you are an inspiration

Well there, a great conclusion for the series! (Wonder where they are honoring Eriu though? Or are they not? Got to admit I´m biased here. Never could bring myself to like the Milesians, although you drew a very impressive picture of Scota here, which might make one sway - almost :-) )

Such a peaceful, serene scene to come after the anguish of the last two pictures. There is sadness in this one, of course, but no more pain. Beautiful job!

Beautiful ... Becky. The flame light is really good and I love the spirits around in the fog/smoke. The gold looks real good too. I've been thinking of doing something on the 'Nineth Wave', but just haven't got around to it yet. smiles
