Description

This picture was made off of my friend, Sukie's front pourch, as we were sitting out there one nice spring day, sipping our first iced coffees of the season. (Coffee is to be consumed year round, you know.) We sat, talked, and marveled at the strange turns the sky took, that afternoon. After a while, I pulled out my camera and started clicking away. Every time I see this image now, I hear that "aah" choral sound and expect to hear Monty Python's "The Voice of God" saying: You must get me a shrubbery" or, "Go to the deli, and pick me up a roast beef sandwich...with Swiss cheese...heavy on the mayo. This picture was made in the Ravenswood area of Chicago on May 16th, 2008.

Well, I'm starting to feel REALLY left out, guess I better watch those Monty Python films. I almost hear the Halllelujah Chorus as sung by, well, I'm really not sure. Maybe the Monty Python Choir?? Anyway this does inspire all kinds of great stuff, nothing like sitting there watching the world go by!!

That's a beautiful sky, to be sure. Nice capture, it has just the right contrast for all of the details to, well shine is the only word I can think of, sorry. Of course now that you mentioned the Monty Python bit I'll have that running through my head the rest of the evening, heh.

"What are you doing now?" "Averting our eyes, oh Lord." "Well, don't. It's just like those miserable psalms, always so depressing. Now knock it off! Every time I try to talk to someone it's "sorry this" and "forgive me that" and "I'm not worthy"..." LOLOLOLOL!!!!! :D

Oh yes, it's perfect...I would have had a hard time resisting the urge to add a cutout of the deity with movable eyes. LOL! Great capture, Corey!

This is great! I love a good, dramatic sky! The color is astounding here, I scarcely remember Chicago having blue in its sky. Of course it does, but usually when it's too hot to go outside, too cold to go outside, or--most commonly--when you're stuck indoors at work. It's GREAT to see blue sky OUT of one of those contexts. The silhouettes at the bottom are deliciously moody and spooky! Great. *** "Good idea, God!" "Of course it's a good idea, I came up with it didn't I?" --I always expect God to be like that, just as fed up with religion as anybody else.
