Description

I'd originally planned on posting something else, but time and various other concerns have conspired against that. Hmmm...I think the lack of photoshop on this computer has something to do with it. I'd planned, after all, on posting something a bit more digital than photographical. Oh well. As it stands, I'm posting this. I'm proud of this image, not because it's the best of a zillion shots I took, using an uncooperative model, but because this particular model (despite any lack of cooperation) was pretty good company during the long period of time it took in order to make the photograph. Needless to say, some insect models (cooperative and not-so-cooperative) work for relatively cheap. This particular critter actually stayed still when she (he?) came across a number of aphids, feeding on whatever weed this happens to be. Unfortunately, I captured no displays of aphid carnage, but suffice it to say, it was...interesting. Aphids, despite what anyone may thing, don't seem to have enough brain power to stop sucking juices out of plants in order to run from predators, but for anyone who's ever seen an aphid head, it's a wonder there are brains in them at all. But ah...they are cute, unless you're a gardener, dealing with an infestation. As awlays, thank you for viewing, reading, and commenting on this and previous uploads. And hopefully, everyone is having a great week!

I love this! It's great! The brightness of the red against the lushness of the green really grabs me. And that beetle (ladybug) is pretty impressve--he looks so shiny and new and engineered, kind of like he just came out of the shiny, new beetle factory. His eyes look like sunglasses. Very cool!

Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home--isn't that a bizarre fairly tale? I have no idea where that came from, but this ladybug is amazing and yeah, zoom is almost unreal!!

Wonderful macro! He's obviously intent on causing aphid mayhem. Great POV. It looks like he's going to march down that leaf, right on to your camera.

What a great shot! The shine on the ladybug is almost too good to be true. Gorgeous!

A most unusual and unique pov. It seems to be traveling straight at the camera at a slow and easy pace.

This is a "Must See Full Size"---amazing detail of this 'little lady'--the color so is spectacular and the values actually almost seemed "photoshopped"

It's a great shot, and I like the contrasting colors. Colorado has had a particularly wet spring/summer, and there are tons of aphids, hence tons of ladybugs. I recently saw a photo of a local tree taken by a photographer friend, and the thick trunk and all the branches were completely covered with ladybugs. Thousands of them. It was quite amazing. CC

I love the strong red colour of your subject's exoskeleton. Alas such vibrant red lady bugs are all but extinct in my part of the world. We only see the dull orange ones these days. They're not so charming either. Consider yourself fortunate.
